THE YELLOW HOUSE

THE YELLOW HOUSE: The yellow-house is only 80 feet from the water with vast, unobstructed views of the water, island, the rocky shore, marshes and profile of Machiasport beyond. There is plenty of space to spread out....

-- GREAT ROOM with a wall of windows is a comfortable gathering space to hold conversation or just gaze out over the water.  There is a (pull-out) sofa and large chairs overlooking the water.

--DINING ROOM - part of the Great Room easily accommodates six hungry people.

-- THE LIBRARY has french doors to leave open and expand the living area of the great room or closed for more privacy.  It holds an 'old-time' wooden phonograph with a selection of 78's (Dancing anyone? Waltz or perhaps a fox trot?) and an easel for the artist. It is full of books and CD's and 'books on CD's' and plenty of board games.  A chair and ottoman are a great place to curl up with a good book and sip a cup of tea.

-- COZY DEN has a flat screen tv and dvd player and library of DVD movies from kids to adult selections. It contains a dual reclining sofa and an armchair.

-- THE KITCHEN: A well equipped kitchen is also part of the Great Room.  It has a gas/propane stove/range, over-stove microwave oven and a full-size fridge.  The kitchen holds plenty of dishware, silverware, serveware, and glassware - wine glasses and champagne flutes.

The view from the kitchen window overlooks the freshwater pond. If you are lucky, you might see a deer (or a moose) quenching his thirst and you will almost certainly see a heron or other shore birds gathering there.

--WALK IN PANTRY - Off the back hallway is a charming "cigar box" walk-in pantry complete with a Belgian waffle maker, veggie and citrus juicers, blender, lobster pot (of course!) and many gadgets and gismos for cooking up a gourmet meal.  The cabinets in the pantry were originally from the turn of the century and fashioned from old cigar/cigarette boxes.  Yes, Mainers are thrifty folk.

THE THREE BEDROOMS (all three bedrooms are on the second level):

THE MOONLIGHT BEDROOM - Master bedroom - has a queen bed with a cloud-like mattress topper, a variety of pillows, crisp sheets and fluffy duvets for a dreamy sleep and views out over the great room to the water. There is a privacy shade for complete privacy to the room below. The Moonlight bedroom has a flat-screen tv (plays DVD's only), wall to wall carpeting, two dressers and two closets.

THE EAGLE PERCH BEDROOM has a double bed with a cozy duvet and a dormer window overlooking the water. This bedroom has gleaming hardwood floors and a small closet and dresser.

THE DEER WATCH BEDROOM contains a petite nook with a twin bed, crisp sheets, soft duvet and overlooks the woodlands.  The deer watch room has two windows that overlook the yard, a small closet, rocker and small dresser.

-- BATHROOM 1 - This bathroom is on the second floor and is shared by all three bedrooms.  It is spacious for a cottage with a full bath with toilet, sink and tub/shower.  The floor is tiled and plenty of fluffy towels and washcloths are provided.

--BATHROOM 2 - This is a smaller bath on the main floor.  It is tiled and has a toilet, sink and small stall shower.  This bathroom also houses the washer and dryer.

--THE PERGOLA - We can't forget the outdoor pergola.  A beautiful space to relax, eat a meal or just watch the seals play and eagles soar.
